Show Review: Holy Grail and Exmortus at the Highline

California heavy metal shredders Holy Grail passed through Seattle with fellow Prosthetic Records shredders Exmortus to perform at the Highline Bar.  Portland’s Spellcaster was supposed to be on the tour, but due to travel complications they were unable to make the show leaving space for local opening support from Seattle’s own Nasty Bits.

Both Holy Grail and Exmortus have been to Seattle earlier this year.  Holy Grail was on tour supporting Devil Driver and Incite (show review here) while Exmortus was supporting Amon Amarth and Entombed A.D (show review here).  I was at both of these shows and they were great.  So I was thrilled to see these guys coming back through Seattle on the same tour.  Nothing better than sitting back watching these guys perform their high energy head banging shows.

The show got off to a late start, local support started just after 9pm and the show ran early into the morning.  Talk about one hell of a bangover the next morning!  But well worth it.  As always, these guys were out mingling with their fans and watching the others perform.  It always feels like a your just hanging out with your friends because these guys treat their fans like their friends and take time to chat with everyone.  Holy Grail is still out on tour supporting their February 2016 release of “Times of Pride and Peril” while Exmortus is supporting their 2016 release “Ride Forth”.   This tour runs through the first week of August.  So check the dates and see if there is still time for you to catch this tour.

On a side note I wanted to mention that Holy Grail’s Eli Santana has started a vlog on Youtube called The Cliff Notes of Eli where he answers fan questions and talks about what’s going on in the life of Eli, song writing, etc and well just whatever he decides to talk about.  So hop over to his channel and take a look for yourself.  You can also tweet him questions on Twitter using the hashtag #thecliffnotesofEli.  One other piece of news, as some of you know and some may not, Eli is also a member of the band Huntress and they have a big tour coming up for September and October with Trivium and Sabaton (sadly, not a single northwest USA date, so it sounds like a road trip for Yesterdazenews!).  Tickets are on sale now so don’t wait to get yours.
