Show Review: Windowpane / Amadon / Syztem7 / Mach Society at Studio 7

Last weekend, 23 April 2016, Windowpane had their video release show for their single  “The More I Run” at Studio 7 in Seattle, WA.  Local Seattle fans who attended the show were treated to the premiere of the video by the band with some details providing insights into the of making of the video and then a live show from Windowpane.  The video was filmed around Portland, OR by Black Dahlia Films.  Fantastic song and video.  See for yourself below.

So let’s talk about the live show.  There were 3 local supporting bands for the Windowpane show; Amadon, Syztem7 and Mach Society.  Each of these local bands have their own distinctive sound and do a great live show.  Not exactly a mix of bands you’d expect to see at the same show, but it really worked.  Personally, I had never seen Syztem7 or Mach Society but thoroughly enjoyed each of their sets.  This is one of the many reasons I tell people to get out and support live music.  You never know what bands you will get exposed to.  You won’t always like every band you see, but more often than not, you will find new bands to listen to that you wouldn’t have run across except by seeing them opening for another big name band you have heard of.

Mach Society has a gritty rock sound similar to Shinedown, Three Days Grace, Alice in Chains, Slash and Drowning Pool.  They had a short set but enough to really sample their music and show style.  They are worth checking out.  You can take a listen to their music via Reverbnation/Mach Society.

Syztem7 these guys have that industrial rock/metal sound similar to Filter, Faith No More, Rob Zombie, Nine Inch Nails and Soundgarden.  How I have never seen them before I am still wondering.  I really enjoyed their sound and their showmanship.  Definitely worthy to check them out and to seek out one of their live shows.  I can say these guys have quickly become one of my new favorite local bands. You can take a listen to their music via Reverbnation/Syztem7.

Amadon, what can I say about Amadon aside from I am already a dedicated fan of this band and I am part of the “Famadon” as well call it.  You could say they sound similar to a mix of Muse, Avenged Sevenfold, Incubus, Foo Fighters and Breaking Benjamin.  I was introduced to Amadon when they opened for a friends band back in the summer of 2013.  It was one of those amazing moments when an unknown  band comes on stage and blows you away in the first 30 seconds of their set.  I still remember the reaction my friend and I had, total shock and amazement at what had witnessed.  We spent the rest of the set jumping up and down.  These guys have a great rock sound.  They are fantastic performers with a highly energetic set and they keep evolving their music.  You can take a listen to their music via Reverbnation/Amadon.

Lastly, we come to Windowpane.  Do I really need to tell you about their set?  I mean they are a pretty big named band.  Oh if you must twist my arm, it was fantastic!  There’s not much that Windowpane could do wrong where making music and live performances are concerned.  Their fans know this too and even chipped in to a crowd-funding campaign to help pay for their new album to be recorded and released.  They are clearly doing rock music right.  These guys are polished professionals and one of the northwest favorites.  Their set is the kind we usually expect from them, raw and real.  No need for the crazy light shows to distract the audience, they just walk on stage and perform.  There aren’t a ton of bands today that are as real with their music or as raw.  We need to see more of this from the bands we love and support.  If you missed this show you do have a few other chances to catch Windowpane in the Seattle area this year.  The biggest show they are performing is in August at KISW 99.9’s “Pain in the Grass” show with bands such as Disturbed and Alter Bridge at the White River Amphitheater in Auburn.  They will also be performing in Woodinville in July for the Rock Out ALS Fest.

If you get a chance to check out any of these artists performing live, do it.  They will give you an enjoyable show.
